Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej or now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. The first gymnast to earn a 10. an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, an Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci aged six. In 1969, she participated in the Romanian Junior Games where she placed 13th. She won in 1970. She won three golds in her very first contest at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 for communist countries. Between 1973 and 1974, she was the junior champion in all-round competitions. When she competed for the first time as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion winning four gold and one silver medal. She was the first female to ever successfully complete the backwards double salto while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. They featured ice skating shows which included stage performances.
